The Current Educational Landscape

When demands outpace development, it gets called a behavior problem.

• Every classroom sets expectations by age and grade — sit still, transition on cue, sustain attention, work independently — regardless of whether a student's body and nervous system are actually ready for them.
• That gap isn't limited to any one diagnosis. It shows up, to some degree, in nearly every classroom — for any student whose development, in one area or another, hasn't yet caught up to what's being asked of them.
• Most interventions treat the resulting struggle as something to correct, rather than a mismatch to close.
• Without a shared way to see that mismatch, the same referrals keep landing on the same desks — and staff keep managing symptoms instead of causes.
